Eid Catch Up & Aashurah Gift Exchange 2014

السلام عليكم و رحمةالله و بركاته

I have just realized that my post on wishing everyone a blessed Eid Mubarak did not load due to network problems recently.

I do apologies and I hope everyone had a blessed Eid, filled with lots of Barakah, joy and most importantly, following in footsteps of making your own sacrifice, which is your duty, if you are able to afford it.

The most unique thing about Eid for me, was the fact that I got to slaughter my own sheep for the very first time in my life.
Usually my dad does it for all of us, but it was quite an experience and made the concept of sacrifice all the more real for me.

What was your Eid like? I’d love to hear about it, so please do comment and share your experience with fellow readers.

Back to the other part of the topic, Aashurah is coming up.
And for those sisters who would like to take part in it this year, please do send in your Information to me, so I can set it up within the next few days.
Last year’s Gift Exchange was such a success, Alhamdulillah , aside from a hiccup or two.

This year I would love to include children, so if your little ones, or older kids, would like to take part, it would be wonderful.

The information required is as follows:

Name
Age
Address
Contact number and alternative number
Email address
A short note about yourself and 3 types of things you love, or that interest you.

The aim of this once again, is to bring sisters or brothers in Islam, together by getting to know someone from a different area, province or even a different country.
Please note that females will be matched to females and males will be matched to males.

Please do keep in mind that the Postal service in South Africa is yet again on strike… Yes it’s very annoying and totally inconveniences everyone, as everything arrives very, very late, if at all.
If possible, please try and use a courier service.

All emails are to be sent to theturquoisescarf@gmail.com by the 18th of October 2014, insha Allah.

Replies will be sent out by the 22nd of October 2014, if not earlier.

I look forward to all the comments and emails that you send in.

Have a wonderful week further.

وعليكم السلام و رحمةالله وبركاته

Secret Sister and Secret Brother Gift Exchange For Aashurah

اسلام عليكم و رحمةالله و بركاته

Hi everyone

I just have a few words to say today, Jazakallahu khairan, thank you to all those who have taken part in the #SecretSister and #SecretBrother Aashurah Gift Exchange!

All emails were sent out earlier this afternoon, and were drawn at random.

Next year, in Sha Allah ( God Willing), I will run one for the kids as well as adults!

I sincerely hope that you all enjoy shopping or making the ideal gift and that the receiver appreciates your efforts.

Don’t forget to pen a little note if you like.

This day is truly like a mini celebration and families should always try to spend sometime together on this day, whether they are exchanging gifts or not.

Please remember me in your duas.

Once again, thank you for your participation, the response exceeded my expectation!
I had fun putting everything together and pairing up everyone.
May we go even bigger in years to come in Sha Allah, aameen.

For now, I’m going to put on my thinking cap, and look for another amazing interactive idea for all you fabulous ladies and gentlemen! And the kiddies too!!

If you have any ideas, please share in the comments section, or email me.

I have quite a few posts to share soon, so be on the look out!

Until next time,

وسلام عليكم و رحمةالله و بركاته

Aashurah Gift Exchange

20131031-005702.jpg

السلام عليكم و رحمةالله و بركاته

Dear bloggers

I realize that this is a bit late but I’ve recently just had an interesting idea on how to make this Aashurah unique.

As we know, Islamically gift giving is encouraged as it strengthens ties with kith and kin.

It is my idea that this year and hopefully, انشاالله in future years to come, that we take the initiative to follow upon this sunnah.

What I am proposing is a ‘ Secret Sister’ for females to exchange gifts, and for men, you will have a ‘Secret Brother’.

The idea is that, if you do sign up for this, you will send in an email to theturquoisescarf@gmail.com, containing your name, gender , blog name, full postal address and a short description of your likes/ hobbies.

I will then pair up sisters separately and brothers separately, and forward you the name and address of the person who is your ‘Secret Sister’ or ‘Secret Brother’.

This is purely for the pleasure of Allah, and I ask you to please fulfill your part in sending the gift with, perhaps a note containing contact details so the receiver may thank you.

In this way, may we be able foster and strengthen ties with one another and perhaps even become good friends and better sisters/ brothers within Islam انشأ الله.

I look forward to your participation.

Let’s make this Aashurah, a unique one.
This is open to all participants from around the world.
