I fully support the Free Aafia Campaign.

If anyone can attend this demonstration, just know that you shall be rewarded for seeking the freedom for this unjustly imprisoned woman and many women like her.

Please be informed that International Free Aafia Day will take on the 29th March . Please encourage the school girls and Female Staff in your organisation/company to wear a purple scarf on the 29th and 30th March(global March/Picket) in support of Aafia’s plight.

Respected Brothers and Sisters

We hereby inform you that an organising committee will be holding a picket demonstration at the Consulate of the United of States of America. The details surrounding the picket are as follows:

 The aim and objective of the picket is to commemorate the 9th anniversary of the abduction of Aafia Siddiqui on 29th March and to highlight the plight of Dr Aafia Siddiqui who is currently imprisoned in the United States of America and sentenced unjustly to a prison term of 86 years.

 The picket will be a peaceful and based purely on humanitarian grounds.

  The picket action will take place in Sandton at the offices of the US Consulate on Friday 30th March 2012 from 14h00 to 15h30.

 The organisers endeavour that the picket will be held in accordance with South African Legislation governing public protests, and will ensure conformance to such legislation.

 As part of the picket action, the organisers will be handing over a memorandum to a senior United States Consular official at around 15h15.   

 A further request is made to all organisations / schools / institutions and individuals to support the initiative and where possible to attend the picket in Sandton.

 To coincide with the picket action, a request from the organising committee is to dedicate 30th March as “Aafia Day”. This should include requesting learners / ladies to identify with the cause by wearing a purple scarf on the day.
