السلام عليكم و رحمةالله و بركاته
Dear one and all,
This particular post is an appeal for help, for our rising South African Kickboxing Champion.
Please do share this post with family, friends and any person/company that may be able to help us get this amazing young man to the USA for the World Kickboxing Championship.
The following is a letter penned by his mom.
Mohamed Aqueel Ambaram is a 14 year old Black belt in Kickboxing. He is a grade 9 student at Nova Pioneer, Ormonde. He started in 2009 at the tender age of 6 years with Karate and later progressed to Kickboxing in 2011. In 2012 Mohamed Aqueel was selected for the Development team to represent his Dojo at Regional Tournaments and then qualified at a National Level. This was the beginning of additional training days, early start to Saturdays attending tournaments all around South Africa and the creation of his own wall of fame. He has achieved the following to date:
SA Champion at SAKA 2017 (29 April 2017)
1 World Championship – 10th World Martial Arts Games 2016
2 x SA Champion in Points Fighting and Tag Team 2016
16 Gold Medals
20 Silver Medals
12 Bronze Medals
In 2016 Mohamed Aqueel participated at the NMA ISKA Destiny Tournament with the hope of qualifying for his Protea Colours and an opportunity to represent his country at the ISKA World Martial Arts Championship to be held in the USA, July 2017.
He received the following placements at the event:
SA Champion in Points Fighting
SA Champion in Tag Team
Silver in Continuous Fighting
Silver in XMA
Silver in High Kicks
Silver in Black Belt Grand Champion
Mohamed Aqueel was successful in achieving a part of his dream. He has been selected to receive his Protea Colours and will be representing South Africa at the USA Open. The US Open is acknowledged as being “The Greatest Show in Martial Arts”, and as the “World’s Most Prestigious Martial Arts Tournament”.
Each year, the US OPEN and ISKA World Martial Arts Championships weekend presents an experience unique to the martial arts.
The US OPEN brings together the world’s very best competitors, teams, coaches, spectators, and officials for a weekend of inspiring performances. The event will be telecast worldwide on the ESPN Networks.
Unfortunately South Africa does not provide sponsorship for this sport. The cost of the Trip is estimated at R35 000.00 per Athlete and includes, Flight and accommodation with breakfast and SA Kickboxing Uniform. It excludes lunches, dinners and any touring fees.
I am a single mum and unable to cover these costs on my own. I am therefore requesting your assistance in Sponsoring part of the fee to enable Mohamed Aqueel in fulfilling his dream.
I have attached his official letter confirming his selection to the team and Mohamed Aqueel’s bank details for the Sponsorship fee deposit.
If you would like to meet with us or have any questions regarding the request please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for taking time to review our Sponsorship request.
( Please email me, theturquoisescarf@gmail. com for banking details, shukran).
The following is the official letter naming Mohamed Aqueel Ambaram as a part of the Official South African NNA/ISKA/SAGA -SASMA SPORT MARTIAL ARTS TEAM.
Nazeera has been trying for months to secure help from our local community as well as large so-called sporting companies , however she has been sorely disappointed. Not only do people discriminate against their surname, but there’s a whole host of excuses that have been given to her.
We are looking for sponsors who will sponsor this young man and perhaps his mom, to go to the USA and make us proud as South Africans.
Have a look at some of his accomplishments thus far:
Nazeera has arranged a tournament that will take place in Lenasia on the 20th of May 2017.
Please do support this campaign to raise funds for Mohamed Aqueel. Also if you could spread the hashtag: #GetSAKickboxingChampionToUSA on social media, that would be great!
If anyone would like to help or sponsor this amazing young man, feel free to contact us via email and we will forward Nazeera’s details through to you, Jazakallah.
